Description

During their spare time Civil War soldiers found it entertaining to try and invent ways to pass the time, when not shooting at each other.

Since money or entertainment supplies were scare, soldiers took one of the commodities they had and did fun things with them. One of those items was shaping lead bullets into chess or other game pieces, or to make themselves an inexpensive piece of jewelry at no cost. A war memento if you call it that.

This lead bullet was made to be a neck compliment and to be an item of self-honor for participating in the civil war for some poor soldier.  This particular lead bullet jewelry piece was found at historic Fort Sedgwick, Colorado by me in 1993.

It is my opinion this item was a minie-ball bullet in its former life.

The front/back has not been cleaned and shows an age covering from being a dug item.

The item is used, rare, and has some scratches & patina wear.

The size is:  ¾” x 1”
